Expanded storage portfolio and ‘Build Your Own Data Centre’ concept gain traction across regional markets
Following a successful showcase at GITEX, where Toshiba engaged closely with its distribution partners MBuzz, ASBIS and MTC, the company is now preparing to consolidate momentum around its expanded storage portfolio and accelerate adoption of its “Build Your Own Data Centre” initiative across the Middle East and Africa. Tosh Nxt, the commercial partner for Toshiba Electronics Europe in the region, is seeing sustained demand for high-capacity, AI-ready storage as enterprises scale their data requirements in the wake of rapid AI adoption.

Santosh Varghese, Managing Director at Tosh Nxt Tech Ventures.
At GITEX, Toshiba demonstrated its full range of drives, from personal storage in the Canvio series to its core professional lineup: the S300 surveillance drives, the MG series for enterprise and cloud data-centre environments, and NAS drives for network-attached solutions. A major draw for customers was the S300 AI, a new surveillance-focused drive engineered for 24/7 operation, capable of handling up to 32 AI streams and 64 camera feeds. “The S300 AI can take about 32 AI streams and 64 camera feeds, and is designed for 24/7 operation. This is one of the latest additions, and we will be adding more capacity to the S300 range,” said Santosh Varghese, Managing Director at Tosh Nxt Tech Ventures.
The showcase also highlighted the MG enterprise-capacity series, with Toshiba recently announcing up to 30TB on a single disk, an important milestone as global data creation accelerates toward 166 zettabytes. Varghese noted a clear shift in customer requirements, saying, “Businesses are no more just storing data; they are analysing data. With AI coming in, there is a huge requirement to store data that will later be analysed for better decision-making.”
A key focus at GITEX was Toshiba’s “Build Your Own Data Centre” concept, which integrates high-capacity drives with servers and controllers to create modular, scalable data-centre architectures. One of the showcased setups combined 54 units of 16TB drives, delivering petabytes of storage connected to open AI systems. As organisations increasingly operationalise AI, Tosh Nxt expects this model to resonate strongly with enterprises seeking more control, flexibility and cost-efficiency in their storage infrastructures.
Post-GITEX, demand remains robust across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, South Africa and East Africa, driven by national digital agendas and AI-centric transformation programmes. Toshiba and Tosh Nxt are now focused on capacity expansion, ongoing technology updates, and partner enablement to support this surge. With stronger market visibility and growing interest from enterprise and government sectors, the company plans to build further on the success of GITEX and deepen adoption of its expanded portfolio and “Build Your Own Data Centre” initiative in the coming year.
